TMT Examination (Treadmill Test)

A Treadmill Test (TMT), also known as a cardiac stress test, helps evaluate how well your heart performs under physical stress. During this test, you’ll be asked to walk or run on a treadmill, with the speed and incline gradually increasing. This allows our specialists to monitor your heart’s rhythm, blood flow, and blood pressure response to exertion.

TMT is commonly used to detect:

  • Reduced blood flow to the heart muscle
  • Abnormal heart rhythms
  • Early signs of coronary artery disease

Understanding Your TMT Results:

The maximum predicted heart rate is calculated using the formula: 220 minus your age. For example, at age 40, the target is 180 beats per minute. A safe and effective test typically reaches 85% of that predicted maximum. If your results are outside the normal range, our experienced cardiologists are here to guide you with expert advice and next steps.

Whether you have chest discomfort, shortness of breath, or need a routine cardiac checkup, a TMT can provide essential insights into your heart health.

Echocardiogram (Echo)

An Echocardiogram, or Echo, is a non-invasive test that uses high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to create detailed, moving images of your heart. This test helps assess the size, shape, and function of your heart and its valves.

Why You Might Need an Echo:

An echocardiogram can reveal critical information about your heart’s health and is recommended if you experience:

  • Chest pain or tightness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Irregular heartbeats
  • Abnormal heart sounds
  • History of heart disease, heart surgery, or heart attacks

What to Expect During the Test:

  • The procedure is painless and usually takes 30 to 60 minutes.
  • You’ll lie down on an exam table wearing a gown, with electrodes placed on your chest to monitor heart rhythm.
  • A gel will be applied to your chest, and a handheld device (transducer) will be moved over your chest to capture heart images.
  • You may be asked to lie on your left side and hold your breath briefly during the scan.
  • You might hear a gentle “whooshing” sound, which is blood flowing through your heart.

Understanding Your Results:

Results are usually available within 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  • A normal result indicates that your heart structure and pumping function are within healthy limits.
  • An abnormal result may reveal issues such as valve problems, weak heart muscle, fluid buildup, or the presence of clots or tumors.
